What kind of clothing should I wear?
Comfortable athletic wear. Yoga is typically performed barefoot. However, we do recommend that you dress in layers – sports bra, tank top, blouse – so you can shed upper layers as you warm up. At the same time, you’ll be able to add layers as you cool down either prior to Savasana or at the end of class.

Should I eat before class?
With the exception of say a breakfast bar and small amount of water, we strongly encourage you to practice on a lite stomach. The same goes for drinking. Yoga doesn’t mix well with a digestive tract that processing heavy meals or excessive amount of fluids. For your own comfort level, we encourage you to wait at least 2 hours after a heavy meal to practice. Always bring water to stay hydrated.

Can I just show up for classes?
Since we have limited class sizes as well as limited space, to guarantee your seat, we strongly encourage participants to reserve their seat in advance. By preregistering, you can pay online and bypass waiting in line.

How do I sign up for a class?

Via the ____ app, you can choose your class, pay and reserve your seat. Again, space is limited and certain classes fill up whether quickly. Utilizing this technology will expedite the flow of people into the studio so classes can  start on time and end promptly.

Can I bring my own mat?
You sure can. We recommend that you bring a yoga mat and water. Small towels and mats are available if you don’t have one, or forgot your at home.

What classes are recommended for beginners?

Can my child attend classes with me?
We occasionally offer either classes to (or childcare for) children under 11. Those between the ages of 12-15 are welcome to attend classes if accompanied by an adult whereas those aged 16 and older can attend class solo.

Since I’m not flexible, should I even do yoga?
No worries, friend, that’s what yoga is for. Aside from concerns about flexibility, yoga is about “being present” (mindfulness), controlling the breath, and quieting the mind. With consistent practice, you will see changes in your strength and flexibility. Regardless of your level of flexibility, we encourage everyone to listen to their bodies and do what they can because ultimately yoga is for anyone how wants to improve their overall state of health and well-being

Why do you chant AUM?

AUM – sometimes pronounced OM – is a mantra sometimes chanted at the beginning or end of a class. Its considered as the sound of the Universe and oftentimes brings about a state of calmness, peace, and serenity.

What is Savasana? 
It is both the hardest and most important pose in Yoga. Oftentimes, it marks the “cool down” or “resting period” of a yoga practice. Typically, you lie flat on your mat in a relaxed position, return to a normal state of breathing and allow your mind to clear and reset itself for going back out into the world. On rare occasions, your neighbor may experience a breakthrough, which could be expressed with crying or weeping. Please do not let this allow to distract you. If you feel uncomfortable and need to “come out of Savasana,” feel free to sit and get into Easy or Lotus Pose and remain their quietly until class is fully dismissed.

What does Namaste mean?

At the conclusion of Savasana and prior to adjoining the class, everyone returns to a seated pose with hands in pray pose – thumbs agsainst the breastbone. Oftentimes, the instructor will say a few words of thanks then end the class in a bow while saying the word Namaste. It simply means “the light in me acknowledges the light in you”. You neither have to bow or say this word if you are uncomfortable with doing so.
